+ Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA)
Single Tooth Anesthesia is the best way to deliver anesthesia without the pain and discomfort of a needle. This process allows Dr. Jecu to more precisely administer anesthesia to avoid over treating an area, avoiding excessive and needless numbing.
Since the anesthesia is limited to one location in the mouth and takes less time to wear off compared to normal injections. Not only does this mean your appointment will be pain free, but you’ll also be able to continue on with your daily activities without discomfort. There are no lingering effects of Single Tooth Anesthesia, you’ll even be able to eat and talk normally as soon as you’re finished.
This service is great for those with dental anxiety as it reduces the risk of biting your lip or tongue. Its also great for children!
Single Tooth Anesthesia is just one of the services we offer to ensure your visit is as comfortable and painless as possible.
+ Laser Gum Therapy
Periodontal disease – also called Periodontitis – is a bacterial infection caused by plaque that damages the gums, ligaments and bone structure that support your teeth. Plaque is that clear sticky substance that builds throughout the day and is removed by regular tooth brushing and flossing. Plaque that isn’t cleaned off during your daily oral health routine hardens into tartar and is then removed by a dentist.
In addition to this daily oral self care, your dentist can use lasers to treat periodontal disease by using a dental laser to remove inflamed gum tissue from around the root of the tooth. Because lasers use steady and concentrated light to remove unhealthy tissues, they have several advantages over the traditional cleaning method. Some of these advantages include faster healing, less bleeding and swelling, and less heat and vibration produced during the procedure. We even use the laser to reshape gums for a more even smile.
What to look for:
Gum symptoms
- Gums that bleed during normal (even gentle) brushing and flossing
- Tender or sensitive gums that are sore to touch
- Swollen Gums
- Gums that appear shiny or bright red (like in many infections)
- Gums that are receding
Tooth symptoms
- Teeth that are loose in an adult
- Teeth that appear unusually long (due to receded gum)
- Teeth with excessive tartar buildup along the visible gum line and in the ‘pocket’
Other symptoms
- Frequent or continuous bad breath
- Overall discomfort in the mouth
+ Solea Dental Laser

The miracle we’ve both been waiting for is here: Solea. Now available to you, Solea is a dental laser that replaces the dental drill in the majority of procedures in our practice. In fact, nearly every patient skips anesthesia because they just don’t need it. Solea is our way of keeping you happy. Because more than anything, we love to see you smile.
Solea offers a unique wavelength guided by sophisticated computers to deliver virtually painless dental procedures for both teeth and gums from simple cavities to complex surgeries. The experience is so unique that you will find it hard to believe you were just at a dental appointment.
Solea Sleep laser therapy for snoring uses ultra-low energy to tighten and stiffen collagen on the soft palate, reducing vibrations that cause you to snore. This quick, painless, non-surgical treatment provides rapid relief for most people who snore.

+ Emergency Dentistry
If you are unsure of the severity of your dental condition, please call or e-mail us to further discuss your symptoms.
Sensitivity to heat | Possible Emergency |
Unlike sensitivity to cold, sensitivity to heat should be addressed by a dentist as soon as possible, as it could be the sign of infection. If this happens, contact Dr. Jecu at her Yonge and Eglinton Dental Office immediately during business hours. If there is swelling, pus, or a fever present after hours, contact the Emergency Dental Office at 416-485-7121. |
Fractured tooth | Possible Emergency | A fractured tooth may be a dental emergency depending on the degree of fracture and pain to the area. If the fracture is severe you should seek emergency medical attention. If damage to a fractured tooth is minor or moderate, it is considered urgent, but may not be a dental emergency. Avoid hot and cold foods and biting/chewing in the area of the fractured tooth until seen by a dentist. |
Swelling | Dental Emergency | If you are experiencing sudden and severe discomfort accompanied by swelling, it is possible that you may have an oral infection. If you spot red tissue in your mouth, it is likely the source of the infection and will likely be tender, warm to the touch, and may be accompanied by pus. Apply a cold compress to the inflamed area and call the Emergency Dental Office immediately at 416-485-7121 |
Knocked out tooth | Dental Emergency | If your tooth is knocked out, you can control the bleeding by directly applying pressure with a cold compress. There may be extensive bleeding, but do not be alarmed as this is to be expected. Recover the knocked out tooth and place it gently back into it’s socket – try not to touch the root. If you’re able to get to the Emergency Dental Office (416-485-7121) or hospital within 30 minutes of losing the tooth, it can be saved. If you are uncomfortable placing the tooth back in your mouth, carefully transport the tooth in a glass of cold milk or wrapped in a cold, wet cloth |
+ CariVu Caries Detection Device

This radiation free, patented transillumination technology helps us detect tooth decay and cavities.
The safe, near-infrared light that allows us to identify occlusal, inter-proximal, and recurrent carious lesions and cracks. It gives you a straight forward view of what is happening with your teeth and in contrast to x-rays, you don’t have to be an expert to see if you have cavities.
+ Intra-Oral Camera

At our Yonge and Broadway Family Dental Office, our Intraoral camera allows us to spot and magnify areas of concern for your smile. With an Intra-oral camera, these areas can be displayed on a chair-side monitor to allow you to see what we see!
The Intraoral camera is roughly the size of a large pen so it can be maneuvered inside your mouth comfortably like other dental tools.
While it’s interesting and informative, the camera is also used to record and monitor existing conditions. For example, a dark spot on the gum or a suspicious bruise on the palate is photographed and at your next visit the area can be accurately compared. An image is indeed worth a thousand words. As well, if you would like a record of your clinical condition we can email these photos to you just as we would to any referring specialist.
Together, Dr. Jecu can review the images with you to aid in a clear explanation on your treatment and any possible concerns, making you a true partner in your oral health. The Intra-Oral camera’s images can also be printed for you to take home. The images available through our intraoral camera will help you to guide your oral care with confidence, knowing that the treatments you select will protect and restore your smile.
The Intra-Oral camera is just one example of the best cutting edge dental technology used by Dr. Jecu and her staff at her Yonge and Broadway Dental Office. Book an appointment today to see the benefits of the Intra-Oral camera technology.
+ Digital X-Rays
Why Do I Need Dental X-rays?
Your teeth are composed of several layers, with large and important portions hidden in your jaw below your gum line. Your tooth’s surface enamel can be visibly examined to protect the inner parts of a tooth (that we can’t see). Below your enamel is the Dentin, then the Pulp where your tooth receives its nutrients. Also, hidden are your Jaw bone, joints and ligaments that help support your teeth Damage, infection and any abnormalities below are often only detectable through a Dental X-Ray.
Digital X-rays allow your dentist to:
- Find decay and abnormalities between teeth and below the gum line
- Monitor any periodontal conditions
- Monitor your jaw bone and the position of your teeth
- Monitor areas of concern before they become a problem
- Detect any growths or abnormalities in your jawbone that may be a sign of something more serious
How does it work?
It’s simple, we place a small sensor in your mouth and an X-Ray beam is then sent through your teeth This records the image of your teeth on the sensor, which is then scanned and appears on the computer beside you in less than 20 seconds.
Are dental X-rays safe?
While X-rays expose us to some radiation, digital X-rays produce 80 – 90% less radiation compared to traditional dental X-rays. Digital X-rays are also much faster and comfortable to use. As the images are captured, Video Explanations are generated electronically, thus eliminating the need to develop the X-rays and dispose of toxic waste, making digital X-rays better for the environment.
Why do we use lead-free aprons?
In addition to digital x-rays, we supply our patients with lead-free aprons during dental procedures. These environmentally friendly aprons are non-toxic and lightweight. Their flexibility provides better coverage, easily adjusting to your thyroid region, to minimize the amount of radiation that you are exposed to. Delta Dental aims to prioritize patient safety and well-being. So, by using lead-free aprons that provide more comfort than conventional leaded aprons, we continue to enhance patient experience and promote protection.
+ Invisalign
Making the decision to straighten your teeth is much easier when you know that Invisalign® treatment lets you live your life the way you want to. With Invisalign aligners, you don’t need to worry about the gum and mouth irritation other teeth-straightening methods can cause. Backed by the data and experience of 5 million cases, Invisalign gives up to 50% faster treatment time and is effective for a wide variety of patients.
Each aligner shifts your teeth slightly, moving them horizontally and vertically and even rotating them when needed. Your aligners are engineered to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time. Because the aligners are virtually invisible and fit snugly over your teeth, they are smooth and comfortable to wear and allow you to do all the things you normally would.
When you change to the next set of aligners (typically every week) your teeth gradually move into position, following a custom treatment plan mapped out by our staff. Its also great for those patients with busy schedules as there are fewer dentist visits required (approximately once every six weeks). Ask us about how we can help gives you a smile you will be proud of for years to come.
+ Icon Early Cavity Treatment

Previously, it was necessary to “wait and watch” early cavities until they were big enough to justify drilling and filling. Additionally the only options for treating discolouration such as white spot lesions that could not be eliminated by tooth whitening were far more invasive. Now with Icon, its possible to stop early cavities in their tracks as well as remove white spot lesions in only one visit.
Icon treats early cavities without pain. No drilling, no anaesthetic injection are required!
Ask Dr. Jecu about how Icon can help you!
+ Cosmetic Dentistry

There are a variety of cosmetic options available to you.
The most common of these dental procedures is Teeth Whitening. Removing colour from teeth can restore vitality to your teeth while improving your smiles aesthetic.
Another procedure is Tooth Contouring, which is a quick and painless procedure that involves reshaping the tooth by removing excess tooth material. There is also Gum Contouring – also called a Gum Lift, which is the same process as Tooth Contouring but for your gums.
White or Composite fillings are made of a resin material that actually bonds to the tooth for a tight seal. The material is strong enough for chewing surfaces and lacks the sensitivity associated with amalgam fillings. Cosmetically, white fillings are colour-matched to your natural tooth making the almost invisible.
If you have small gaps in your smile, a cosmetic solution that may benefit you is Dental Bonding, which involves reshaping your teeth by adding tooth-coloured material to their surface.
Porcelain Crowns and Veneers involve improving the face of your teeth by reshaping them. Smile makeovers typically involve multiple porcelain veneers.
Dental implants and Bridges are reconstructive procedures that are used to rebuild a smile after losing teeth. The benefits of these procedures are not only cosmetic, but functional as well, as they will improve your chewing and speaking ability. Dentures are also a well-known solution for resolving the issues caused by missing one or all of your teeth
+ Porcelain Veneers
Introducing Porcelain Veneers!
Also called ‘instant orthodontics’, porcelain veneers are a cosmetic dental service that will perfect your smile without the having to commit long term to braces.
Veneers are custom, porcelain facings that are bonded to the face of your teeth made to not only match the shape and size of your teeth but also increase the whiteness of your smile.
To ensure your veneers appear natural, the thickness of the veneer is “smoothed” off the natural surface of the tooth to allow the tooth to remain at its original thickness. The veneer is then bonded to the tooth, leaving a beautiful natural looking smile.
Veneers are mainly used to:
- Straighten Crooked Teeth
- Close gaps between teeth
- Whiten dark, yellow, permanently-Stained or Discoloured Teeth
- Repair broken or chipped teeth
- Enhance your overall smile making you feel younger and more confident.
If you’re interested in Porcelain Veneers to improve your smile, talk to Dr. Jecu at her Yonge and Broadway Cosmetic Dental Office about this dental service.
+ Dental Crowns
A crown is a hollow cap shaped to fit your tooth for a tight fit. A dental crown will strengthen your tooth and protect it from bacteria and decay. Crowns can be made using a variety of materials, of which your dentist will recommend what’s best for you.
The Process
First, an impression is taken of the damaged tooth and surrounding area. From there, the damaged tooth is reshaped in order to allow room for the cap. During the reshaping, your dentist will keep as much of the damaged or affected tooth as possible. After the reshaping, you will be given a temporary crown while your permanent crown is being crafted. Once it is complete, you will return to our office to have it cemented into place. If you are worried about any irritation, don’t worry, our dental team will be gentle and non-invasive during the procedure.
Why Use Dental Crowns?
- To prevent further damage to an already damaged tooth
- To strengthen a tooth after undergoing a root canal
- To cap a dental implant or cover a dental filling
Maintaining Your Dental Crown
With proper oral care, a dental crown can last a lifetime. Continue to brush and floss diligently and continue visiting Dr. Jecu on a regular basis for inspection.
+ Dental Bridges
A missing tooth should be treated more for what it is – a gap in your teeth that will slowly be filled by shifting teeth and an increased chance of decay and infection. In the gap, the surrounding teeth may move affecting your visible smile as well as causing the gums and neighboring teeth to become far more susceptible to decay and gum disease.
One of the solutions we can offer for patients with missing teeth is called a dental bridge.
A dental bridge is used to replace missing teeth Bridges can reduce your risk of gum disease, help to correct minor bite issues and can even improve your speech.
If you’re missing a tooth and have figured it was harmless until now, ask Dr. Jecu if a dental bridge is a solution for your dental problems. Your smile will thank you.
+ Mouthguards
If you plan on playing hockey, basketball, football, martial arts, or any other contact sport, you’ve likely invested in pads and equipment – don’t forget about a mouthguard.
You should be protected from a young age to avoid tooth loss or other oral complications. Need some convincing? Just take a look at some old timer hockey photos!
Did you know that using a quality mouthguard can reduce the severity of concussions? Pro athletes in contact sports wear mouthguards for more than just tooth protection. Wearing a mouthguard prevents tooth on tooth contact, which dissipates the force of impact. Think of a mouthguard as a car bumper – it takes the brunt of the impact to protect the rest of your vehicle.
While you may be tempted to pick up an over the counter mouthguard, consider the level of protection you’re receiving in comparison to a clinically fitted, custom made mouth guard. A professionally created mouthguard will protect the teeth, gums and bone structure by molding properly during use. Over the counter versions may reduce the risk of chipped teeth, but they fail to consider the important structures that support the teeth.
At Delta Dental, we can design the best fitting (custom made) mouthguard for you! Just ask Dr. Jecu.
+ Dental Bonding

Bonding composite is a paste-like material made from a combination of resins and fillers. Once it is molded and applied to your teeth, a special light is used to harden the material. Once set, the composite is smoothed and polished to match the colour and texture of surrounding teeth to ensure a seamless appearance.
Dental Bonding can be used to:
- Fill the gaps between teeth
- Reshape teeth
- Repair damaged teeth
- Restore discoloured teeth
- Act as fillings
- Serve as an alternative to veneers
Dental Bonding is a quick and painless procedure that produces amazing results. Ask Dr. Jecu during your next visit if Dental Bonding would help to enhance your smile!
+ White Fillings

Amalgam or metallic fillings used to be the standard practice until somewhat recently. The amalgam was needed for its strength to endure chewing while filling large cavities. The material these fillings are composed of can corrode and leak, blackening the filling, and often the tooth.
If you want to do something about the silver fillings in your smile, Dr. Jecu and her Yonge and Eglinton dental team have the best solution for you.
White or Composite fillings are made of a resin material that bonds to the tooth for a tight seal while appearing natural due to their tooth-matching colour. The material is strong enough for chewing surfaces and lacks the sensitivity associated with amalgam fillings. You’ll be able to smile with confidence, knowing that your dental fillings are out of site and out of mind.
+ Bad Breath Treatment
While we sleep, saliva production decreases and our mouths dry out, providing the perfect environment for odour-causing bacteria. Halitosis, otherwise known as bad breath, can come from a number of different sources, such as dry mouth, decomposition of food particles in and around your teeth, and foods that contain certain sulphur compounds such as garlic and cabbage.
Halitosis can also reflect medical conditions, ranging from chronic infections in the lungs to kidney and liver failure. Dieting and fasting can slow down the stimulation of saliva flow and result in “offensive” breath. Talking for long periods of time will dry out your mouth with the same result.
How to Treat Halitosis
- Floss and brush teeth to remove food particles and eliminate bad breath causing bacteria
- Scrub your tongue with toothbrush since more than 50% of bacteria that causes bad breath can found there
- Keep your mouth moist and avoid sugar beverages. The best move is to opt for water instead!
- Visit your dentist regularly to keep your teeth looking healthy. Your dentist can also spot causes of halitosis or periodontal disease. The OraVital treatment has been successful in treating bad breath.
Remember, if your concerns go beyond morning breath, please ask us for more information. Dr. Paula and the Yonge and Eglinton dental staff are glad to assist you and offer the best oral hygiene tips.
+ Teeth Whitening

With the rise of over-the-counter whitening products, along with the awareness of cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening has become a popular service at our Yonge and Broadway Cosmetic and Family Dental Office.
What Causes Discoloured Teeth?
- Dentin darkening with age
- Smoking or any tobacco use
- Accidents – a dead nerve will darken a tooth
- Drinking coffee, tea, wine or soft drinks
- Root Canal Therapy
Under the supervision of Dr. Jecu and her dental team, teeth whitening is very safe. The results of teeth whitening in our Yonge and Broadway dental office are instant and can last for as long as a year. Our dental practice uses state of the art in-office whitening treatments for those looking for a healthy and naturally brilliant smile, in just one 1 hour session. This quick and easy teeth whitening treatment is highly effective and one of our most popular cosmetic procedures.
Home Whitening
The take home teeth whitening system allows you to brighten your teeth in the comfort of your own home. We will provide you with all you need – custom teeth whitening trays, whitening gel and instructions to take with you.
If you’d like to bring out the whiteness in your teeth, Dr. Jecu would be happy to talk to you about the results you can expect to see in your smile.
+ Dental Sealants
Sometimes brushing and healthy eating habits will not be enough to avoid cavities from forming. As teeth develop, deep grooves called fissures naturally occur on the molars and premolar teeth These areas account for more than 50% of cavities among children. Very effective in preventing tooth decay on the biting surfaces of your teeth, dental sealants are a common procedure where a tooth-coloured acrylic “coating” is painted onto the surface of the tooth.
Sealants protect your teeth from decay caused by those bits of food and bacteria that are hard to reach while brushing. They are most effective on the biting surfaces of the teeth where the enamel has many irregular grooves which attract bacteria and create a perfect breeding ground for cavities to set in.
A quick and easy procedure, sealants take just a few minutes to apply and will hold up well under the force of normal chewing for many years before needing to be reapplied. As long as the sealant remains intact your teeth will remain protected from decay-but remember you still need to floss. Sealants only work on the biting surfaces of teeth not in between on the smooth surfaces.
Both children and adults will benefit from sealants in the fight against tooth decay. Ask Dr. Jecu about Dental Sealants during your next visit with us.
+ Dentures

One of the best dental solutions for missing teeth are dentures.
Dentures are artificial teeth that fill in the spaces created by missing teeth They can be made from different materials, often hardened porcelain and acrylic resin, and are crafted to look as much like your existing teeth as possible. Dentures can be created to fill the place of one missing tooth, several teeth, even all of patient’s teeth depending on the nature and reason for their tooth loss.
You may be surprised to know that outside of aesthetic appearance, dentures will help a patient with normal speech and facial muscle support.
If you are missing one or all of your teeth, ask Dr. Jecu at her Yonge and Eglinton Cosmetic Dental Office about dentures – a sure-fire solution.
+ Extractions
- the tooth is not suitable for root canal therapy
- the tooth is extensively decayed
- the tooth or root is cracked / fractured
- there is extensive bone loss or pathology around the tooth
- there is insufficient space in the arch or in preparation for orthodontics
- the tooth has suffered extensive damage
Post-Extraction Care
Upon removal of the tooth, it is important for a blood clot to form in order to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. Don’t be surprised if there is a continued sensation of pressure due to the anaesthetic.
When a tooth has been taken out, the socket needs to be managed properly to prevent complications such as bone loss and dry socket, so follow the instructions below.
- Continue biting on the supplied gauze we’ve provided until the bleeding has stopped.
- Use a warm salt water rinse periodically throughout the day to reduce swelling and the growth of bacteria.
- Limit your eating to soft foods and beverages. Rinse after eating.
- Continue brushing and flossing, but be careful around the extraction site.
- Do not smoke.
Dr. Jecu and her dental team ensure that all post-operative instructions are communicated clearly to make sure you know how to avoid complications during the healing process. Contact Delta Dental today to find out if a tooth extraction is the best option for you!
+ Oral Cancer Screening
Signs and Symptoms of Oral Cancer:
During the early stages, oral cancer can include changes in the colour of tissue, the appearance of small canker-like soars or bites on the inside of the cheek. Oral cancer is tricky because many of these symptoms are shared by oral conditions that are totally harmless. It is important for a dentist to examine any symptoms that may appear to be sure that they are not signs of something serious.
Oral Cancer Screening:
Not unlike most cancers, early detection and treatment can greatly improve the prognosis and recovery rates of those affected. If symptoms are discovered and managed early, oral cancer survival rates can be as high as 90%. Unfortunately, all too often oral cancers go undetected until the later stages, which is why we make it an important part of your routine dental exam.
At Delta Dental, we use Velscope, a non-invasive oral cancer-screening device that uses fluorescence visualization technology to identify pre-cancerous lesions during screening exams. Velscope aids in detecting any abnormalities that are not visible to the naked eye while making the procedure painless, safe, and swift.
If you’re experiencing any of the following, call Dr. Jecu for an examination:
- a sore in your mouth lasting more than two weeks
- any discoloured tissue inside the mouth (often white or dark red) that lasts more than two weeks
- a lump in your cheek, lips, gums, tongue or mouth’s soft tissue
- a lump in your neck
- difficulty or pain when speaking, chewing, or swallowing
- a sore throat or hoarse voice that lasts for a prolonged period
- numbness in your mouth or face
+ Bruxism Night Guards
As with many issues that occur during sleep, you may have no idea you’re doing it until a spouse or partner hears the grinding at night or damage is detected by your dentist.
Bruxism can be caused by the following:
- stress
- a reaction to pain
- certain sleep disorders
- teeth that are misaligned
Bruxism is also more likely to occur with the consumption of caffeine and alcohol. In severe cases grinding and clenching can cause oral complications and issues like chipping, hot and cold sensitivity, damage to dental work and more.
Signs of bruxism include sensitive teeth, jaw muscle pain, headaches and neck pain in the morning, tooth tips that are flattened or dull, the sound of grinding during sleep.
Bruxism can be treated and reduced through relaxation techniques, altered diet, and for more severe cases a custom fitted mouthguard. If any of the mentioned symptoms sound familiar, ask Dr. Jecu about Bruxism during your next visit
+ Family Dentistry

Education is an important part of preventive oral care. During your regular visits to Dr. Jecu’s Dental Office at Yonge and Eglinton (at Broadway), we will discuss best practices and answer any questions you may have, with the goal of helping you maintain exceptional oral health for life.
While you may not realize it, your six-month dental appointment is important to both your oral and overall health. Many serious illnesses are linked to poor dental hygiene, such as diabetes, respiratory disease, heart disease and oral cancer. We conduct a thorough examination including checking for signs of oral cancer on every patient. Early detection and treatment of health issues along with tooth decay and gum disease allow us to prevent small problems from becoming serious.
+ Amalgam-Free Dentistry - (No mercury)
Amalgam-free dentistry is beneficial for:
- Your oral health
- Your overall well-being
- The environment
- Allergies to certain dental materials
In contrast to amalgam fillings, we use resin material to create mercury-free fillings. These composite fillings are non-toxic and have the appearance of your natural teeth.
Delta Dental’s amalgam-free approach is safe for your body, promotes oral hygiene, and is one of the best options for restoring or enhancing your smile.
